Spark Me Up
In a pinch, when all the .10c lighters have cracked fizzled and exploded, this small fire-steel will be there for you. Many, many, many ‘Swedish’ fire-steels on Amazon are fake, fraudulent, and downright dangerous Chineze knockoffs. This company designed these firestarter in the 70’s for the ‘Swedish’ military, folks that need to be adept at starting fires in wet and cold conditions 100% of the time.
Enter the Light My Fire Scout. With 3000 strikes this small fire-steel will not last forever, but it certainly will not get regular use and is more likely to be misplaced due to its small size than worn out.
It creates a good shaving pile with the attached striker, but I would prefer the back of my knife in practice. Pair it with a pice of cotton ball dabbed with Vaseline and you’re up and cooking s’mores in no time.
